Buddy's Cafe
Buddy's Place is a dementia friendly cafe. It was developed through a co design art project led by artist Motoko Fujita, where all the cafe's accessories were designed and developed with the people who live at St Joseph's Dementia Care Home. Buddy’s Place café has been open to the public every Thursday since December 2024.
This funding supports weekly art workshops/learning sessions for the public. The aim of this art project is to create a hub of gatherings that will strengthen the community network, supporting understanding of dementia in the community, and producing happy creative moments for every-buddy; residents of the care setting, social groups, local individuals, mothers and babies, children and youth. Some of the workshop's products will be included in the craft market and exhibition within Buddy's Place.
This initiative is supported through dlr's Creative Ireland Project Award.
