Project Green & Blue
Project Green & Blue is a community arts project inviting people in Westmeath to look closer at familiar waterways, exploring plant life, biodiversity and environmental change through creative workshops and field sessions led by artists and ecology experts, helping participants build a deeper connection with their natural surroundings.
Through creative workshops and guided field sessions, participants explore plant life, biodiversity and environmental change. The programme includes both sessions developed for community groups who regularly interact with these environments and open workshops for the wider public, with booking available as sessions are announced.
The programme includes outdoor sessions with community groups, alongside open studio workshops including botanical illustration, cyanotype and hapa-zome. Additional outdoor activities, such as wetlands plein air and oil pastel drawing along the canal, offer direct engagement with these environments and their changing conditions. The project is delivered by local artists including Mariia Golubeva (Mary Lee Art Studio), Anna Brown (Big Sky Flowers), Deirdre Clogher, Emma Noonan (Mullingar Gathers) and Valeriia Poliushko, working alongside biodiversity and environmental experts. All sessions are designed to be accessible, with no prior artistic experience required.
Booking information will be released on a rolling basis via a dedicated project account: https://www.instagram.com/greenandblue.project
