Writers at Waterford Libraries 2026
These workshops will be either online or in person in a Waterford City and County Library Service branch. The possible areas that will be covered are writing fiction for beginners, poetry, creative nonfiction, screen writing, the novel, at least one workshops will be held in Irish. We endeavour to have teachers who are not only published writers and highly skilled in teaching the craft of writing but who also represent in some measure a diverse population.
The courses will be open to adults who are resident in the Waterford City and County Council administrative area and who have a current Waterford Library membership. Based on previous years we know that four week/8 hour course work best for retention of student interest. One day workshops on specialist topics have also been well attended in the past three years of running this programme. This year we will include at least one workshop for emerging writers with the aim of producing pieces for publication. The development of our partnership with the Munster Literature Centre has opened up the possibility of including finished pieces from participants in the Munster Literature Centre publications.
