This project will be a community based creative initiative designed to bring old and young together in Connemara through storytelling and creativity. The project pairs local children with residents of a community nursing home to explore the idea that creativity is a universal language accessible to everyone, regardless of age or artistic background.

The project consists of a series of facilitated workshops.

Each session begins with a structured interview where the young participants act as "memory collectors," gathering stories of Connemara’s past from their elderly partners.

Following these conversations, the children will create mixed-media portraits of their partners and there will also be the space to create items of art that their experience inspires!

To ensure that "everyone can be creative," the workshops won’t focus on traditional art workshops my idea is that I will remove the "perfectionist” barrier, allowing children of all abilities to produce something they are happy with. I will also be encouraging the older clients to join in and create art!
