Brett Lemick, a performer and educator from the Chicago and LA comedy scene, is launching Mid Comedy in Mullingar with an eight-week improv course. Designed for those with little or no experience, the programme offers a supportive introduction to improvisation, culminating in a live comedy showcase open to the local community.

Participants will meet weekly at Cúige Studios for two-hour workshops focused on core improv skills including listening, spontaneity, character work, and collaborative storytelling. Sessions support mixed levels of confidence and experience, with an emphasis on ensemble work and creating a positive, inclusive environment. Through exercises and scene work inspired by everyday life in rural Ireland, participants will develop confidence, communication skills, and creative expression. The programme is led by Brett Lemick, who brings over a decade of experience in improvisation training and teaching, with roots in the Chicago and Los Angeles comedy scenes, alongside work in youth and community-based education.

The project will conclude with a live public showcase for friends, family, and the wider community. This event offers participants a chance to share their work while inviting audiences to engage with and support the beginnings of a new comedy offering in the region through Mid Comedy.

The course is open to adults (18+) in Mullingar and surrounding areas.
