Stories from the Garden
“Stories from the Garden” is an engaging literacy and nature‑based learning programme delivered by the Schools Library Service. Hosted in Brigit’s Garden this spring, the event will welcome 50 primary school children for a day that blends environmental exploration with Ireland’s rich storytelling traditions.
The experience begins in the Roundhouse, where storytellers from Moth & Butterfly will lead an imaginative, interactive session designed to spark creativity, cultural curiosity, and a sensof connection to nature.
Following the storytelling, Brigit’s Garden’s education team will guide students through the themed garden spaces, encouraging hands‑on learning about biodiversity, sustainability, and the natural environment. As part of this, children will explore the theme of biodiversity by planting their own sunflower seeds to take back to school.
This programme offers children a meaningful, experiential learning opportunity, bringing together education, environment, and culture in a unique form that reimagines how libraries can support learning – beyond books and buildings.
