Stories of Lough Ree Episode 5: Boat Building. This is a collaborative project with Counties Longford and Roscommon. This project will produce a short film which looks at the importance of the boats of Lough Ree. This is a continuation of our very successful Stories of Lough Ree project from 2025.

Stories of Lough Ree Episodes 1-4 in 2025 created a series of engaging short films that explored the rich history, culture, and stories surrounding Lough Ree. Located in the heart of Ireland and shared by the counties of Westmeath, Roscommon, and Longford, Lough Ree is a mystical and captivating place. The facilitators wanted to look into the diverse history from the coming of people up the Shannon following evidence of the archaeology, castles, names, the boat building craft, and finally memories of life on the islands from people who were there.
