What began as a small, informal book club has grown into a vibrant platform for self-expression and achievement. Over the years, members have taken on significant cultural roles, serving as judges for the KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Book of the Year Awards, receiving a collective Reading Hero Award, and creating and presenting a half-hour national radio programme on RTÉ KIDS Junior.
Supported through funding from Creative Ireland and Meath County Council Library Service, members recently participated in a media literacy project with facilitators Fiona MacGinty and Fabien MacGinty from Fruitbowl Film & Drama Hub. Through this initiative, participants developed new digital and storytelling skills, explored different forms of media, and worked collaboratively to create original content.
The project highlights the value of inclusive cultural programmes and demonstrates what can be achieved when people are given opportunities to learn, create and contribute. It celebrates the talents, dedication and achievements of the book club members, whose enthusiasm and creativity continue to inspire their community and enrich the cultural life of County Meath.
Through reading, discussion, creative expression and lifelong learning, the Stay Up All Night Book Club continues to empower its members, ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to be heard.
