The production of an Irish language film based on the award-winning stage play “The Signal Box” by renowned Cavan playwright Brendan McCann and adapted for film by his son Kevin McCann. Translation of script into Irish by Bríd Ní Dhóláin and poet Séamus Ó h-Ultacháin.
The story is based in Belturbet, Co. Cavan in 1980s Ireland. A lone signalman operates a signal box at Belturbet Railway Station where his estranged brother reveals his plan to crash the train carrying passengers to a peace conference in Belfast. A hostage situation ensues as the train approaches heading for a doomed derailment.
