Animation of Rockwood Parade with artistic input from 6 local primary schools in Sligo.

Sligo Business Improvement District (BID) is the lead partner on the Sligo St Patrick’s Festival and the Sligo Christmas Lights switch on event. Both events attract a large family audience, and the respective committees are seeking to increase the audience participation through themed art installations running through the centre of Sligo town and adding to ambience and atmosphere of both popular events.
Targeting local primary schools, it is the intention to distribute themed cut outs of the following:

28 one-metre-high templates themed to Christmas (a Christmas bauble, a Santa Claus, a star and a Christmas Tree)
28 one metre high themed to St Patrick’s Day (a St Patrick cut out, a shamrock, a leprechaun and a pot of gold with coins)

The participating schools will each receive a set of weather/waterproof templates to work on as an art project and will be actively involved in the design, content and decoration of the templates.
Each cut out will allow pace for the inclusion of the class name and school.
The finished decorations will be installed on the length of railing along Rockwood Parade and an official ‘unveiling’ will be take place with the Mayor of Silgo in advance of each event.
