Art Classes in Knock Community Centre
This project invites children into a vibrant world of creativity, where they can explore art at their own pace and in their own way. Designed with flexibility and imagination in mind, the programme offers two distinct yet complementary pathways—one for regular art classes and another for a summer camp experience.
In the first strand, children will be given their own easel and canvas, creating a new acrylic painting each session or continuing a previous piece. With gentle guidance and themed inspiration—such as World Earth Day in April, World Bee Day in May, and World Oceans Day in June—children are encouraged to follow their own ideas and develop confidence in their artistic voice. Each session is a space of freedom and expression, where missing a class doesn’t mean missing out.
The second strand introduces children to the history of art through a series of ten engaging lessons. Each session begins with a short, accessible introduction to a key art period, followed by a hands-on creative task inspired by that era. From finger-painted cave art to mythical creatures of antiquity and stained glass windows of the Middle Ages, children will journey through time with brush in hand. The programme culminates in a community exhibition, where families and friends can celebrate the children’s work.
A summer camp for twelve children will extend this experience with five longer sessions, offering deeper exploration and more time for creative play!
