Ballybane Stitching Stories: Exploring Traveller Culture and Heritage Through Sewing
Pavee Beoirs, a Ballybane based Traveller women’s group presents a creative initiative celebrating Traveller culture, heritage, and sustainability. Held at Ballybane Community Resource Centre, this project features the output from hands-on sewing workshops where participants explore tradition, diversity, and environmental responsibility.
The final outcome—a stunning wall-hanging tapestry—will weave together storytelling, craftwork, and repurposed materials, reflecting the rich cultural identity of the Traveller community while connecting local and global traditions.
The project will conclude with a public showcase, sharing the tapestry and the powerful stories behind it. This initiative fosters community collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity, bringing people together through art and cultural expression.
