Banner Brains: Still in Clare
Banner Brains: Still in Clare is a creative exhibition developed by Headways clients living with acquired brain injury (ABI) in County Clare.
Through expressive canvas paintings, participants explore life before and after brain injury – one half of each painting represents the confusion or fragmentation of early recovery, while the other half reflects healing, resilience and reconnection with self and place.
Engaging in art provides a powerful means for individuals with ABI to rebuild confidence, process trauma and express identity. At Headways hub in Ennis, clients receive personalised support to take part in projects like this one, which promote wellbeing, connection, and inclusion.
The project is supported by Ennis Library, whose inclusive and welcoming environment has empowered clients of Headway to create, participate and feel valued. This exhibition celebrates recovery, place and the power of community to support transformation. No matter how the brain changes, it remains deeply rooted in Clare.
