Biddy's Day: Build Your Own Biddy Group Booklet
The heart of Biddy’s Day has always been found in its people, neighbours and friends coming together in joyful procession, dressed in wild costumes and bearing the spirit of Brigid from house to house. What makes it powerful is not perfection, but participation.
In that spirit, the Biddy’s Day Committee is proud to launch an exciting new initiative: the “Build Your Own Biddy Group” digital booklet - a beautifully-designed, practical guide for anyone who wants to take part in this living tradition.
Inside, you'll find everything you need to get started; the history and meaning of the Biddy tradition, tips for creating costumes and straw hats, guidance on music, rituals, and group roles, and practical advice on organising your own route through your community. It’s designed to be accessible, visually engaging and inspiring, and an ideal resource for families, schools, community groups, or curious individuals who feel called to be part of something meaningful.
The booklet celebrates the DIY spirit of Biddy-making, where even the humblest materials can become sacred when shaped by community hands.
