Biddy's Day: Storytelling Workshop

Led by folklorist and master storyteller Joe Brennan, participants will be guided through the rich and layered stories of Biddy’s Day.

From the mythic figure of Brigid to the local legends, family tales and personal memories tied to the celebration, this is an opportunity to explore how stories shape not only our understanding of the past, but our connection to one another. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own experiences of Biddy’s Day, past or present, and to uncover stories that might otherwise remain untold.

Through a mix of gentle exercises, conversation and performance techniques, Joe fosters both skill and confidence. Participants will learn how to craft compelling narratives, find the rhythm and imagery within their words and build the courage to share their story aloud. There’s no pressure to perform, only an open door to explore.

Whether you're a seasoned seanchaí, a quiet listener, or someone with a single memory you’ve never shared aloud, Joe creates a warm and encouraging space where each voice matters.

The stories gathered throughout the workshop will culminate in a special festival storytelling event, where participants can choose to share their pieces with the wider community.

The workshops will take place on Thursday 4th September, 2nd October and 6th November. The booking link will be available on the Biddy's Day Facebook page closer to the time.
