Circles of Friendship

The Suicide Chronicles is an ongoing project by artist Mark Storor and producer Emily Gee. Each Chronicle takes focus on one individual story or one particular aspect of suicide ensuring that the work is sharp, vivid and truthful. In coming together, the collective Chronicles work in dialogue with each other, giving form to the infinitely complex and multi-layered nature of suicide.

This Chronicle (Tallaght) will explore the impact of bereavement by suicide within friendship circles, a significant and often overlooked relationship, as highlighted in recent research, which indicates that participants who lost friends were more likely to have experienced multiple suicides, and those who had lost friends often reported feelings of disenfranchised grief (also known as ‘hidden grief’ which is not fully acknowledged by others), isolation and being overlooked by services. Phase 2 will realise a public iteration of the work in live performance/film & print.

Tallaght Community Arts, in partnership with Heart of Glass (UK), Mark Storor and Irish artists will build relationships with local young people, through a series of creative workshops to generate critical collective and individual narratives around suicide.
