Corner Park Lodge Project
The Corner Park Lodge Project with artist Ala Buisir is a film, photography and textile art project with women residing in the Direct Provision Centre in collaboration with South Dublin County Council's Integration team.
Corner Park Lodge, located in Newcastle Co.Dublin is a female only Direct Provision centre. Women are aged 18 +, and from Somalia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Georgia and Pakistan. In late 2024, the Arts Office met with the Councils new integration team. The project idea came about through a call from the council's integration team for provision of a community engaged arts project.
Libyan – Irish Artist Ala Buisir, an award-winning visual artist & journalist, whose socially engaged artwork documents the social and political tension around us today. Her aim is to raise awareness about the lived experience of migrants in Ireland by presenting events through different perspectives in hopes that it may also bring about change. Ala is an experienced facilitator and has worked with a wide variety of groups on art projects including the Amal Womens Group and the Refugee Council.
Ala will run a series of film, photography and textile workshops that will explore the women’s lived experiences since coming to Ireland. The workshops will culminate in a mixed media exhibition.
