‘The Sound Of Things’ is a creative consultation project towards the development of a new show for children with complex needs.  It brings together an experienced team comprised of children’s practitioner Anna Newell together with her long-term collaborators, performers Muireann D’Arcy, Fiona McGarry, composer David Goodall in residency at St Catherine’s Special School, Co Wicklow.

Exploring immersive, responsive sound/voice and re-connecting with touch post-Covid, it starts a journey towards a new theatrical language for a show for 2025.  Between 6 and 10 creative consultations will be carried out with special needs pupils and staff at St. Catherine’s Special School. The practical structure of the week would see an initial coming together of the collaborators on the first day and each subsequent day would see at least 2 creative consultation sessions with very small groups of children/young people and their teaching/support staff interspersed with the artistic collaborators reflecting and responding. Creating the extraordinary work that these extraordinary audiences deserve requires constant reflection, innovation and interrogation of both practice and process
