dlr Books on the Move is a public engagement project aimed beyond the physical walls of our library spaces. It involves the purchase and customisation of a hybrid cargo bike used primarily as a promotional / marketing tool and secondly as an outreach enabler. The presence of the Book Bike would raise awareness of dlr Libraries and DLRCC, while also using dlr Libraries and Creative Ireland branding in unusual, inaccessible, outdoor spaces such as festivals, outdoor markets, school grounds and park runs to expand our reach.
The Book Bike will be used:
- as an innovative promotional tool with its eye-catching and vibrant branding it provides an opportunity to hand out flyers, bookmarks, and other merchandise
- as part of a library membership drive
- to actively visit areas with little or no library presence
- to join up new members and to issue books “on the move”
