Embracing and nurturing creativity within our community

From June to October 2025, this inspiring series of one-day and two-day workshops invites participants to explore the intersection of artistic expression, mindfulness, biodiversity, and the natural environment. Hosted in Ballycastle and its surrounding landscapes—including Dún Briste and Céide Fields—the workshops offer immersive, hands-on experiences led by professional artists and local experts.

Each month features a unique theme, from tactile engagement with native materials and sound-based movement exercises, to mindful drawing, birdlife observation, abstract painting, and eco-conscious textile design. Participants will work with clay, paint, photography, and natural dyes, deepening their connection to place through creative practice.

Building on the success of previous years, this year’s programme introduces a collaborative teaching model, pairing artist Fellows of The Ballinglen Arts Foundation with talented community members in parallel disciplines. These co-led sessions foster a rich exchange of ideas and techniques, enhancing both artistic and environmental awareness.

Workshops are designed to be practice-based and inclusive, with a focus on embodiment, sensory awareness, and creative exploration. With 10–12 participants per session, the programme nurtures a growing community of part-time artists and arts enthusiasts, placing creativity and connection at the heart of local life.
