ENG-AGE exhibition

Each Tuesday morning residents of Trust Us Day Care Centre come together with artists and collaborators to create work that challenges perceptions of later life as quiet, grey, or invisible. Through shared making, conversation, and experimentation, those experiences are being transformed into bold expressions of colour, humour, and agency. Taking matters into their own hands, residents are also creating guerrilla-style art, postering bright, vibrant images of themselves throughout the community. The project brings residents into creative partnership with children from Blossoms, a local crèche, and students from Kingswood Community College,  showing how essential intergenerational connection is to a healthy community – reducing isolation, strengthening empathy, and celebrating creativity at every age.

The work culminates in a public exhibition and joyful celebration on February 10th, 2026 at Rua Red, featuring neon garments designed by resident Imelda Doyle, a flashmob performed by residents and students, and a live DJ set by Ken Cooper, a
former 1960s DJ. Led by multidisciplinary artist Paula Mongey and documented by photographer Ria Ridge, illustrator and socially engaged artist Ciarna Hackett (KiKi na Art), and  graphic designer Mary Guinan, this project captures a powerful story of visibility, dignity, and community strength.

It is essential that this work is seen and heard!
