Explore Solar Energy and Electronics at Ferrybank Men's Shed
Calling Men's Shed members! Curious about solar energy or just love getting hands-on? Like to learn how to build Solar Battery Chargers and Solar Garden Lighting? Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to solar power, basic electronics, and hands-on circuit building. Using solar energy experiment kits, you’ll pick up practical skills like how to build working solar circuits on a breadboard — a reusable base for testing and connecting electronic components. You’ll also learn how to use a multimeter — a handy tool that helps you check if you’re circuit is doing what it should by measuring voltage, current, and resistance (like a health check for electronics). You’ll learn by doing, through two fun hands-on workshop series. These beginner-friendly workshops are a great way to explore solar energy and electronics. Each workshop series is independent of each other, so you’re welcome to join either one, or both. Workshop Series 1: Solar Battery Chargers (Starts 11th June) - Help power the Shed by building solar-powered battery chargers. Workshop Series 2: Solar Garden Lighting (Starts 13th August) - Help light up the Shed’s Garden with simple solar garden lights.
