F i e s t a! - Where Music Creates Community
Now in its fifth year of sustained and successful community music-making, KCO will present two high-quality public events under the title F i e s t a! (Where Music Brings Community Together).
Built around an artistically ambitious and carefully curated cross-cultural programme, the project will unfold across 12 weeks, featuring a structured programme of weekly rehearsals culminating in public performances that demonstrate KCO’s strong commitment to artistic excellence, originality, and thoughtful programming within a community-led context.
Rather than following a conventional classical orchestral format, Kinvara Community Orchestra is defined by its openness to diverse musical styles. Its 60 members bring experience across classical, jazz, country, traditional, and contemporary genres, allowing the ensemble to explore a broad and distinctive musical range.
Entitled Fiesta! to invoke a celebratory spirit, this project is designed to deliver an engaging artistic narrative, combining traditional and contemporary Latin American musical forms. A selection of Mexican polkas, arranged by Musical Director Garry O’Briain, alongside the song Postas de Retrocarga from the Mexican border tradition, will demonstrate high-quality, bespoke arrangements tailored to the ensemble’s strengths.
