Frameworks

Frameworks  is an education programme run by Cork County Council's Culture and Creativity Team where primary schools in the county become temporary custodians of artworks from the council's civic collection.

The program brings paintings, prints, photographs, and other works by emerging and established artists to classrooms, allowing students to engage with art through a professional artist-led creative process, funded by Creative Ireland.
Key aspects of the Frameworks program:

  • Temporary Custodianship:
Participating schools in Cork County get to host artworks from the civic collection in their classrooms.
  • Educational Focus:
The program is designed to provide an enjoyable and creative learning experience for students, helping them develop an appreciation for contemporary visual art.
  • Professional Artist Facilitation:
A professional artist leads the program, guiding students in a collaborative art project inspired by the collection.
  • Civic Art Collection:
The program accesses Cork County Council's substantial civic collection, which includes a variety of media created by artists from or connected to Cork.
  • Funding:
The initiative is made possible through funding from Creative Ireland and is provided free of charge to participating schools.
  • Goal:
To make the county's art collection widely available and to provide young people with an opportunity to engage creatively with it.
