Green Percussion: Recycled Rhythm for Sligo Communities
Recycled Rhythm for Sligo Communities is an environmentally focused creative percussion
project developed by percussion artist Lilia Iontcheva, where students build instruments out of recyclable materials and learn rhythm in a hands-on, accessible way. The project aims to expand into community settings, offering families, adults, young people, and schools an opportunity to engage with sustainable creativity. Workshops will be accessible, using simple tools, recycled materials, and inclusive teaching methods suitable for all ages and abilities.
The project aims to encourage environmental awareness through creative reuse of recyclable materials, and build confidence, creativity, and wellbeing through music-making. It also hopes to promote intergenerational learning and inclusive participation, and strengthen local partnerships with the Avalon Centre and Sligo Green-Schools.
