Health Promotion Through Lifelong Learning, Music and Fun
The aim of the Project is to encourage the new older people from the community to get involved in Health Promotion through fun and music while learning.
To do this we aim to employ music instructors to manage a programme of fun so as to attract people to help with Health Development and learning. The main focus of this will be drumming sessions with Drumadore.
Furthermore, we intend through this project to create and develop a 'Lifelong Learning' Health Improvement service as a Prevention Focused Intervention.
This project is being managed by the Monivea Community Alert Active Age group.
Monivea Community Alert established in 1999 is a Crime Prevention, Care and Safety programme for rural communities in partnership with An Garda Siochana and Muintir na Tire, with an emphasis on Older People. In 2011 Monivea Community Alert established and Active Age voluntary service for Older People with the Aim to do something for Older People. The programme was expected to last six or 7 weeks and finish. However, since 4th March 2011 Older People meet every Friday morning throughout the year for instructed exercise, chat, bingo, information and some outings.
