Hedgerow Fest 2025: Artists in Hedges at Mount Briscoe
In an exciting new collaboration between Margaret Edgill, Mount Briscoe Organic Farm and Daingean Development Association, HedgeRow Fest was formed which is a collective of artists, poets, authors, creatives, foragers, farmers, ecologists and specialists who will bring to life our hedgerows visually through the spoken word, music, poem or prose and visual art.
This event brings a spotlight on our hedgerows and their importance. Coinciding with National Hedgerow Week 2025, the theme is ‘Celebrating our hedges – a partnership with nature’. The festival will showcase the ancient art of hedgelaying with master classes to demonstrate these skills and the positive impact they have on nature and climate action. There is a full programme of supporting events which include nature journaling, forest bathing, forest school, foraging, mushroom foraging masterclass, art workshops, weaving and poetry workshops. Headlining the festival is acclaimed conservationalist and practitioner, Richard Negus, author of Words from the Hedge and Testament, a poet, rapper and playwright and record breaking beatboxer! The Delmaine String Quartet present The Company of Trees - A Celebration in Words and Music on the Sunday. Patrick Deeley, poet, memoirist and children's author will read from his new memoir called 'Seeing Through Trees'. Booking is essential at a cost of €10 per head which will be refunded upon entry with the exception of €2 administration fee.
