Just Rambling is a heartwarming community project bringing back the old Irish tradition of “rambling”  spontaneous evening visits where neighbours shared stories, songs, news, and food. 

In Winter 2025, we’ll host 9 rambling nights over 3 months, rotating between homes in South Leitrim. Each evening will feature music, dance, storytelling, games, and homemade food, creating a warm space for connection and creativity. We’re working closely with Drumsna Active Age to ensure older residents are at the heart of the project, with designated drivers provided for those without transport. 

Following a successful pilot in 2024, this year’s gatherings aim to combat loneliness, especially during the long winter nights, and strengthen intergenerational bonds. The project launched live from Edwina Guckian’s kitchen on RTÉ Radio 1 and will again make a national callout encouraging people to “go rambling” and reconnect with their neighbours. Everyone benefits the ramblers and the welcomers.
