Kindred Threads
Kindred Threads is a community-driven initiative offering creative textile workshops in Ballinasloe to promote sustainability, skill-building, and social connection. The program features two components: a six-week Upcycling and Thrifting series and a four-week Memory Bears workshop. Participants will learn practical sewing techniques, pattern-making, and creative design while exploring ways to repurpose clothing and thrifted items into unique, functional pieces. The Upcycling series focuses on reducing textile waste and encouraging sustainable fashion habits, while Memory Bears provides a meaningful opportunity to transform cherished fabrics into keepsakes, fostering emotional well-being and remembrance. Both workshops are hands-on, led by experienced textile artists, and open to adults with no prior sewing experience. By combining environmental responsibility with creativity and community engagement, Kindred Threads aims to empower individuals, strengthen social bonds, and inspire ongoing sustainable practices through textiles.
