Le Chéile – Creating Connection Through Seanfhocail
‘Le Chéile – creating connection through seanfhocail’ is a community art initiative promoting integration and cultural exchange.
Le Chéile brings together people seeking asylum in the community, refugees and Irish citizens. Working together and discussing Irish seanfhocail two separate groups will turn their favourite seanfhocail into art under the expert guidance of two local artists. Over several sessions both groups will have the opportunity to talk about language, culture and shared values. Both groups will be formed in collaboration with an existing local community group to create lasting connections for participants from asylum seeking or refugee backgrounds.
Each art piece will be accompanied by musings, anecdotes and reflections shared by participants during the workshops. The final art pieces will be displayed proudly in Louth County Council buildings to be viewed by the public.
