Longford Library Service is launching an exciting art competition for secondary school students in County Longford.

The theme being explored is 'Reading Takes You Places'.  This theme invites you to illustrate the limitless power of reading to move us — not only across places and time, but also through emotions, ideas, and perspectives. Where can a book take you? Into adventure, wonder, reflection, or transformation? Let your artwork capture the way reading expands horizons and unlocks new destinations, both real and imagined. Show us the journey you embark upon when you open a book.

Members of the Longford Culture and Creativity Team will select 12 winners whose work will be published in a calendar for 2026. These calendars will be available across Longford Libraries.

• One submission per student.
• The artwork must be one A4 page, Landscape orientation.
• The artwork must be in colour.
• Scan your artwork & this form and send it to libraryhqteam@longfordcoco.ie in .jpg format
  to enter
• Closing date is Sunday 19th October at 11:59pm
• Submit entries to libraryhqteam@longfordcoco.ie
• Prize is €50 for each winner and inclusion in the calendar.
• There will be twelve winners chosen from across the county.
• Judges will be selected from the Longford Cultural Team
• The work MUST be an original work with no assistance from AI.
• Winners will be announced on Wednesday 29th October.
• You MUST be a library member to enter
• Winners must be available to attend the Calendar Launch.
