Mayo Roscommon: Care & Creativity in Context 2025
Now in its second year, this collaborative project between Mayo and Roscommon Co. Councils, partnering with the Irish Hospice Foundation, continues to set the standards high for delivery of creative sessions to older people at end of life and palliative care stages in healthcare settings and private homes of participants.
The project has provided training, capacity-building, artist-peer mentoring and residencies for artists in healthcare settings. Ten artists in Roscommon and Mayo have delivered over 270 creative sessions to people at the end of life and in palliative care stages in nursing home, hospice, hospital and home settings in Year 1 and will continue to do so in 2025.
It is an important initiative that enhances creative engagement for individuals in end-of-life care.
This year we will also focus on stage 4 of the project a Reflective External Evaluation /‘Telling the Story’ Creative Documentation of the Project.
This will be a publication or documentary of the learnings and project evaluation which will have contributions from ongoing artist self-evaluation and reflective diaries.
