One Million Stars
‘One Million Stars’ is a global initiative that raises awareness and promotes solidarity against domestic abuse and all forms of violence. This project is a series of community art workshops designed to engage participants in the global One Million Stars initiative.
Facilitated by artist Alison O’Grady, workshops will take place over 4 weeks in 4 of Louth Library Services’ branch libraries, with up to 20 participants at each workshop. Participants will learn how to create six-pointed stars using ribbon, contributing to a collaborative sculptural installation that symbolizes solidarity, hope, and community resilience. The objectives of the project are to provide a creative and inclusive space for community engagement and to educate participants on the One Million Stars initiative and its message of hope and unity, while encouraging artistic expression and skill development through the traditional craft of star weaving.
The One Million Stars art workshops will foster creativity, social connection, and community spirit while contributing to a meaningful international initiative. This project will leave a lasting impact by uniting participants through art and shared purpose.
