Outdoor Classroom for Climate, Biodiversity and Cultural Education
The project aims to educate students about biodiversity, climate action and sustainability, fostering an understanding of how these global issues are connected to their local environment and community.
As part of the project, we are installing wooden bench seating (wooded sleepers on uprights) in an outdoor wooded area on the school grounds (see picture below) which we hope to have in place towards the end of June.
We will be engaging local artists to assist the children in designing and installing mosaics on top of the wooden benches, each relating to a landmark/legend from the Sligo area and environs.
Some of the artists we hope to involve in this project are Karen Webster, Linda Farlin and Michael Quirke.
