Outside-in: Connecting communities

This project is a collaborative arts initiative led by the Sligo Centre for Independent Living (SCIL) and its community members. Based at Number 45, SCIL’s inclusive social hub, the project will engage community members—people with disabilities, older people, and new communities—in co-creation through visual arts.
Participants will work with their creative team at Number 45 to develop artworks, preparing for a major public exhibition at The Model, scheduled for October 2026. This offers a fantastic opportunity for participants to work towards a professional presentation of their work in a location outside of the centre.
The aim is to empower participants to explore and express their creativity, foster inclusion, connection, and shared cultural participation, and create a platform where community voices are visible, valued, and celebrated.
The project will include workshops at Number 45 with lead artist Paddy Morgan and the creative team, encouraging experimentation, skill sharing, and collaborative decision-making. They will document and share the creative journey through photography, audio, and video, and prepare participants for a public exhibition in October 2026 at The Model.  The project hopes to build confidence, creative skills, and lasting social connections, inspiring ongoing participation in Sligo's cultural life.
