Precious
Through the community project, Precious, internationally acclaimed glass artist, Michelle O'Donnell in collaboration with Tullamore Family Resource Centre will explore ideas around what we perceive as valuable—both personally and environmentally.
The project will take place over a series of 4–5 workshops at Tullamore Resource Centre, bringing together a diverse group of participants aged 8 to 80. It is designed as a cross-community initiative, encouraging people who might not otherwise meet to come together, connect, and share in a creative, welcoming environment.
The primary medium used will be fused glass and enamels. This unique material offers qualities of light, reflection, and translucency. While it can be challenging to work with, it is ultimately a highly rewarding process.
This project offers participants the opportunity to explore and reflect on what they consider “precious,” both in their personal lives and within the environment around them. During the early summer months, the group will also take part in outings along Tullamore’s canal and waterways, photographing elements they feel represent something precious within their shared community. Project will culminate in a public exhibition, show and tell event at Tullamore FRC. Date to be confirmed.
