Wicklow County Council’s Culture Team commenced collaborative work in 2021 in Rathdrum under the EU initiative ‘Playful Paradigm.’ The emphasis of the project is on rethinking towns through play, social inclusion, intergenerational and cultural mediation, healthy lifestyles and ‘placemaking’.  Led by an all culture team, pilot actions were carried out in 2021 followed by a string of events in 2022.

Going forward, Rathdrum Playfest Play Paradigm 2023 will see Wicklow County Council Arts Office, in collaboration with Wicklow Sports Partnership and Rathdrum Development Association, roll out a programme of activities and entertainment in Rathdrum.

Activities will be planned to meet the specific needs of children, from young children, to early teens/young adults with abundant opportunities for participation.

All events will be provided free of charge and parents/guardians are encouraged to participate along with their children in the activities.  

The results of a research project carried out in 2022,designed to capture data on the town and community, will be used to assist in the placemaking campaign.
