Samhain Parade Community Workshops
Samhain Parade Manorhamilton
Led by Cluainín Carnival Arts, the Samhain Parade is a vibrant, large-scale community arts project that lights up the streets of Manorhamilton each October. Founded in 2019 by artists passionate about carnival traditions, creative collaboration, and community engagement, Cluainín Carnival Arts brings together over 300 participants in a spectacular illuminated night-time parade.
Featuring giant puppets, lanterns, costumes, and live performances, the event draws more than 2,500 spectators from across the Northwest. In the weeks leading up to the parade, people of all ages take part in artist-led workshops in mask-making, costume design, puppetry, music, and performance. These workshops are open-ended and participant-led, encouraging experimentation, confidence-building, and skill development in a supportive, collaborative space.
This year, workshops will include community groups and local schools in the surrounding areas of Manorhamilton and Dromahair, ensuring broad and inclusive participation.
Blending traditional carnival arts with contemporary practices, such as mixed media, live performance, and community storytelling the Samhain Parade is a high-quality cultural celebration that transforms the town into a glowing canvas of creativity and connection.
