Scríbhneoir Cónaithe/ Irish Language Writer in Residence Maynooth University is a partnership between Creative Communities Kildare, Kildare Library and Arts Service and Maynooth University Department of Irish Language. For the second year an Irish language author will occupy a residency in Kildare County, hosted by Maynooth University, and rolling out a series of  public events throughout the year promoting engagement with Irish Language Literature. After an open call process this years scríbhneoir has been appointed and will take up residency from 1st September 2025 to 31st August 2026. 

This year’s Scríbhneoir Cónaithe, Dubhán Ó Longáin, is a young poet from Co. Donegal whose debut collection, IDEO Locator, was published in 2020. He is an accomplished performance poet, a previous winner of the Liú Lúnasa Slam Filíochta competition and has worked widely with secondary schools through Poetry Ireland’s Writers in Schools scheme.  Dubhán’s potential to inspire young people in particular, given his profile as a young poet and a poet who specialises in performance, is very exciting.
