Sew4Unity
Sew4Unity is a creative, skills‑based community project that brings people of all backgrounds together through the shared joy of making. Building on the success of its 2025 pilot, the project blends hands-on sewing workshops with practical language learning to help participants build confidence, communication, and connection.
In 2026, Sew4Unity expands to Drogheda and Dundalk, welcoming local Irish residents, migrant communities, and non‑native English speakers. The programme fosters integration and mutual understanding in a warm, supportive environment. Participants learn sewing techniques, practise conversational English, and collaborate on individual and group projects.
The project runs as two 12‑week workshop series: one at the Barbican Centre, Drogheda, and the other at Muirhevnamore Community Centre, Dundalk. Sessions are delivered by experienced facilitators who encourage creative skill‑building, shared learning, and cultural exchange.
Sew4Unity culminates in a Community Showcase Event in each town, where participants present their work, celebrate their achievements, and share their stories with family, friends, and the wider community. These events highlight both the beautiful pieces created and the sense of belonging formed throughout the programme.
