Shared Island, Shared Futures: Echoes and Horizons

Shared Island, Shared Futures: Echoes and Horizons is a series of ‘best practice’ exchanges that build further connection between our Shared Island partners: Gorey School of Art, Wexford Arts Centre, Ulster University and The MAC, Belfast. Involving a range of communities associated with each partner and exploring major themes through creative activity, these exchanges will lead to a White Paper written by Ulster University that highlights the opportunities and challenges of cross-border working, and outlines prospective ways to achieve success. Not only will the partners develop a new understanding of each other, but different community groups from Wexford and Belfast will utilise their creativity to learn about cultural and educational institutions in the north and south of the island, and look to those organisations as facilitators of connection and togetherness.

Additionally, existing and future partnerships in the broader Shared Island initiative will benefit, as the high quality research paper produced will act as a tool-kit for developing best practices in this field. This will be a major contribution to the positive continuation of the network of communities working together across the island of Ireland.
