Spanish Armada Ireland will organise a photo retrospective of the Armada discoveries at Streedagh (1985 and 2015) at City Hall, Sligo between 8th -22nd September 2025. This will commemorate the anniversaries of the two discoveries and will be open to the public during working hours each day (with the exception of Culture Night, when the exhibition will be open until 7pm). 

The exhibition will comprise material that the dive teams from 1985 and 2015 have provided to us, the vast majority never having been viewed publicly before, as well as newspaper archive from the time. It will be of great interest to the public and media for that reason, and will also act as a backdrop for the launch of the festival, which will take place (also at City Hall, date TBC) in advance of the festival. 

In light of the quality and importance of the archive we’ve received, we’d like to print and mount the photos to the standard the exhibition deserves, as well as use video content from 2015 which will be viewed onscreen in the foyer of City Hall. This will have a cost which falls outside of our festival budget.
