SRCC Artist in Residence
SRCC hope to facilitate a Sligo-based artist to create new work on the theme of consent. SRCC staff would support the artist to spend time engaging with the centre's work and facilitate discussions around issues of consent, confidentiality, trauma, healing and education. The artist would be invited to attend our school consent workshops and any other public-facing SRCC work. The resulting work would then be presented as part of local events (e.g. Culture Night, arts festivals) and at regional or national events such as conferences in the sector. SRCC will issue an open call to Sligo-based artists of all disciplines to submit a project / research proposal. The successful application will be selected by a panel of staff and board members.
Duration: 6 weeks – April - May
SRCC would offer the artist access to desk space; expert guidance and mentorship on the theme of consent and related topics pertaining to SRCC work; training opportunities (e.g. trauma informed care, consent education); opportunities to publicly present work; a fee and materials budget.
The artist would produce new work on the theme of consent; to engage with staff to learn about, and sensitively respond to, SRCC work, including consent education, counselling and advocacy; to work with SRCC to publicly present the outcomes of the residency; work in line with best practice and SRCC Child Protection, Data Protection, and Health and Safety policies.
