Stirring Memories Project
The Stirring Memories Project will connect with 390 service users across 6 Daycare Centres from across the County to engage service users presently unable to attend and help them tell us their stories and reminiscences of their favourite daytrips or nights out at well-known landmarks and venues across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and old Dublin County. The 6 centres are:
Shankill Day Care Centre, Beaufort Day Care Centre, Dalkey Day Care Centre
Mount Merrion Friendship Club, Dom Marmion Society Dundrum, Leopardstown Park Hospital
To ignite the spark of memory and start the conversation, we will engage storyteller and singer Helena Byrne to encourage daycare service users to tell their stories when they have received their memory packs and will talk on the phone and in person to participants and centre managers and staff on how to encourage the clients to talk and write about bygone dance halls, cinemas and other social venues in the locale. The storyteller will collect all the reminiscences and curate an exhibition of photos and stories in dlr Libraries, which will be the culmination of the Project.
Access to Daycare Centres and service users is dependent on public health restrictions and Govt. guidelines.
