Walking in the great footsteps of the Bailiúchán na Scol (the 1930s Schools Collection), the Story? Project was founded on the firm belief that every one of us has a story – all we need are the tools to tell it. 

Story? 2024, an entertaining and insightful journey into the lives of 16-year-olds in Ballina, was released earlier this year, providing insight into a generation who were given a voice and weren’t afraid to use it. Story? 2025 will collaborate with members of a Mayo Men’s Shed to engage the hearts and minds of a new generation. 

The project teaches the vital skill of storytelling and ensures each participant can bring their diverse strengths to the process. This means engagement is not limited only to those interested in writing, but open to everyone involved. Following the workshops, the project will result in a professionally produced book published and launched in the community.

Storytellers and story-collectors, participants of the programme will be empowered in three main ways: to think reflectively, work creatively and ask that most vital question – what’s my story?
