Take Me to the River 2025- An educational public art project engaging with our natural water resources.

Take Me to the River is a discursive public engagement programme immersing our communities in the life of our rivers through creative responses with artistic, scientific & ecological expertise. Following the successful establishment of the project in 2024, Solstice Arts Centre & Swift Cultural Centre is continuing the programme into & beyond 2025.

A collaborative vision with Cineál Research & Design Architects, Take Me to the River launches its new programme of events on May 13, including free public workshops, creation of a Catchment Connections network, interactive website, & new collaborations with Boyne Rivers Trust, The School of Looking & the new Brú na Bóinne National Park.

A series of outdoor workshops throughout the year will connect land & water along Athboy River, celebrate riverside life cycles in Trim, & immerse our senses in the heritage, mythology & ecosystems of the River Nanny & Boyne Valley. Exploring qualities of the river environment, a wide range of artists, environmental & archaeological experts experienced in research & community participation, will lead citizen science, artistic activities, scientific knowledge & playful activism. Raising awareness about our relationships & responsibilities to our local waterways as citizens & residents of the county, it is an opportunity for dialogue, exchange & skill sharing, with artistic, scientific & ecological expertise, along local areas of our River Catchment in Meath.
