Talking Townlands
Talking Townlands is a small research-led project exploring the stories behind Leitrim’s townlands. Over two months, local farmers and landowners will work with artist Edwina Guckian to uncover the history, folklore, biodiversity, and personal memories tied to their land.
The project will culminate in a public Talking Townlands walk in September with the landowners, a guided loop beginning and ending at Headford Lake near Drumsna. These sharing’s may include spoken word, music, movement, or craft, offering a unique insight into the land and its people. This research aims to deepen local appreciation for the townlands we live in and pass daily and the potential to build on in the future . The project also includes biodiversity guidance, helping landowners explore ways to protect and enhance their land for generations to come.
This research project is not open to the public at this stage .
