The Mantle: The Soundscapes of Rossbeigh

As part of National Heritage Week, we’re delighted to welcome poet, singer & songwriter Amano Miura back to Rossbeigh for this community event exploring the soundscapes of Rossbeigh.

Through a series of creative listening exercises and song with poet and singer-songwriter Amano and Project Coordinator and multi-disciplinary artist Emily Fitzell, you’ll be sensing the resonating elements that shape Rossbeigh; the textured sounds of wind and water.

Thinking about the role music plays in our connections to water and coastal places, we’ll also be sharing a song that was written for, and with the beach, last summer, which brings together the many voices of Rossbeigh, across different species, through experiments with polyvocal and shapeshifting forms of storytelling.

We’ll also be responding to pieces of local folklore which contribute distinctive elements to Rossbeigh’s soundscape; from the famous noise of the Tonn Tóime, which at one time was said to be the loudest wave in Ireland, to the voice of the merrow/murúch.

Booking through Eventbrite is required as spaces are limited.
