The Mummers' Parade & Ball
The Mummers' Parade & Ball is a joyful, county-wide celebration of Leitrim’s land, traditions, and community spirit. In Spring 2025, participants will sow oat seeds on local farms and at Mount Allen Eco Farm. After the autumn harvest, we’ll gather in November at the Mayflower Hall, Drumshanbo, for workshops in crafting traditional Mummers’ costumes, music, dance, and storytelling. Each participant is encouraged to bring someone new, expanding the circle of connection. Over Christmas, Mummers will visit homes across Leitrim, reviving the age-old tradition of house-to-house performances. On January 6th, the project culminates in a vibrant Mummers’ Parade, followed by the Mummers’ Ball. This inclusive project welcomes all ages and backgrounds, fostering creativity, community, and belonging. Many participants say it’s the reason they feel truly part of Leitrim. It’s not just a celebration it’s a way of life.
