The O’Rourke’s of Leitrim – Inclusive Heritage Education Pack
Step into Leitrim’s medieval past with a creative and inclusive education pack inspired by the O’Rourke family, rulers of the Kingdom of Breifne for over 600 years. Based on the 2024 Heritage Audit and Interpretation Plan, this engaging resource is designed for children and open to everyone – families, community groups, and curious minds of all ages.
The pack includes:
- A 10–15 page illustrated booklet exploring the story of the O’Rourke’s of Leitrim.
- 5–10 activity sheets with creative challenges linking history to geography, science, and storytelling.
- Bespoke illustrations available for print and online use.
To bring the stories to life, a professional creative practitioner will deliver workshops using the pack in various locations across Leitrim in late 2025. These sessions will offer hands-on, imaginative ways to explore local heritage together.
